KETURAH

KORAH
CHRONOLOGICAL SUMMARY
I. The wickedness of Korah.
This great-grandson of Levi and first cousin of Moses led a revolt against the great lawgiver during the Exodus journey (Exod 6:16, 18, 20; Num 16).
A. The reason for this rebellion.
Korah and 250 influential Israelite leaders challenged both Moses and Aaron concerning the political and religious authority God had entrusted to them (Num 16:1–3).
B. The results of this rebellion.
1. He and his followers were judged when the very ground they stood upon supernaturally opened and swallowed them into the heart of the earth (Num 16:31–34).
2. Korah’s revolt would eventually cause the deaths of 14,700 people who continued making trouble even after the earth had consumed him (Num 16:41–50).
